What e-invoicing actually requires
European public authorities have had to accept electronic invoices in a European standard format since 2019, and a growing list of countries is extending the same requirement to business-to-business invoicing. “Electronic” doesn’t mean a PDF attached to an email. It means a structured file, in practice UBL 2.1 and usually in the Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 profile, that the recipient’s software can parse straight into accounts payable.
How weBiller does it
Every invoice has a UBL export next to its PDF. Both are generated from the same record, so the numbers can’t drift apart. Tax categories map to the standard codes, including the reverse-charge and zero-rated categories that are the usual reason hand-built XML gets rejected, and credit notes come out as CreditNote documents referencing the invoice they reverse.
What weBiller does not do yet
weBiller generates the file; it isn’t a Peppol access point, so it doesn’t transmit on the network for you. Download the XML and hand it to your access point, your accountant, or the buyer’s portal. Sending directly over Peppol is on the list, and how far up depends on how many people ask for it — so ask.

What is the difference between UBL and Peppol?
UBL is the file format. Peppol is the network that moves such files between businesses, plus BIS Billing 3.0 — the rulebook saying which UBL fields must be filled in and how. weBiller produces UBL that follows those rules.
Does e-invoicing cost extra?
No. Like everything else, it’s included while weBiller is in early access.
Do I still send a PDF?
Usually, yes — people read PDFs, machines read UBL. weBiller gives you both from a single invoice.
