This does not fetch live rates, on purpose. A hard-coded table would quietly serve a stale number, and an invoice converted at last year’s rate is worse than no answer. You supply the rate; this does the arithmetic and the inversion.

Why it does not fetch a rate
Because the right rate is not today’s mid-market number. For an invoice it is the rate on the day, and for your books it is usually your tax authority’s published rate for the period or the rate your bank actually gave you. A tool that guessed would be confidently wrong in exactly the situations that matter, so it asks instead.
The direction people invert
If one euro is 1.08 dollars, one dollar is 0.926 euro — not 0.92, and certainly not 1.08 the other way. Inverting a rate by hand under time pressure is a common and expensive slip, so both directions are always shown.
What the bank actually gives you
The headline rate is not what lands. Banks and payment processors take a margin, often 1 to 3%, and it does not appear as a fee — it is baked into the rate. Enter the margin and the tool shows what the conversion really costs, which is the figure to compare providers on.
